DEKADA ‘70
DWU High School Class ‘70
In celebration of its 40th anniversary, forty (40) classmates from DWU High School Batch 1970 gathered in a reunion on June 28, 2010 at the Villa Terrace, Leyte Park Hotel, Tacloban City. Highlighting the occasion was a general meeting to discuss, among other things, the launching of DEKADA ’70, an annual homecoming of sorts exclusive for members of Batches ‘70-’79 (a separate activity from the regular annual Grand Reunion held every July 2 at he DWU Grounds). Our class, Batch ’70, being the forerunner of classes/batches of the 70s, will spearhead the decade-long yearly activity with the launching tentatively scheduled on June 25, 2011 at the Leyte Park Gym. Briefly, the meeting arrived at the following consensus:
a. it was assumed that all 40 classmates in attendance constituted the majority representing Class ’70 and with everyone expressing approval, it was unanimously agreed that Class ‘70 will sponsor/spearhead the launching of DEKADA ’70 next year;
b. each classmate was asked, and confirmed, full commitment to support this project in terms of financial aspects and/or such other pertinent activities that would be necessary to ensure success of the undertaking;
c. to ensure wider participation by Class ’70 members, each one present was enjoined to help spread the word/encourage other classmates to come and join; and to report in subsequent meetings how many and who have been contacted and have expressed so far their attendance in next year’s undertaking;
d. planning for the launching activities will commence ASAP, a follow-up meeting to be held July 31, 2010;
e. creation of working committees—
1. Invitation chaired by Susan Rama-Calero
2. Reception/Documentation chaired by Nancy Mate-Martinez
3. Physical Arrange ments chaired by Angel Sia/Luciano Gumba
4. Solicitations/Finances chaired by Pinky Cinco/Bobby Montejo
5. Food (to be catered) chaired by Pinky Cinco
f. solicitation of cash contributions and pledges (due August 28, 2010), as follows—
1. Bobby Montejo P50,000.00
2. Butch Lucinario P50,000.00
3. Angel Sia P20,000.00 – paid
4. Luccie Gumba P20,000.00 – paid
5.Chona Santiago P15,000.00
6.Omar Cloma P10,000.00
7. Pinky Cinco P10,000.00
8. Marina Labastida P10,000.00 – paid
9. Edwin Glova P10,000.00
10. Edwin Pacana P10,000.00
11. Alan Surpia P5,000.00
12. Marlyn Morden-Ofonda P5,000.00
13. Danilo Rosillo P5,000.00
14. Crisologo Bitas P5,000.00
The rest have signified to give but did not specify any amount. It was speculated that since compulsory contributions to this project may perhaps serve as a deterrent for some classmates (especially those who are lesser endowed) to attend; it was decided, at this point, that CONTRIBUTIONS should be VOLUNTARY and ATTENDANCE BE COMPULSORY.

Basically, the meeting was held to meet with Mr. Marlon Moscare, events coordinator, to present to him our concepts and ideas to make the launching event one that is truly memorable and lively. He suggested to be given time, 2weeks at the most, to be able to consolidate all these. He suggested to present the details of his plans/script based on our input to him in a meeting scheduled on August 30.
He suggested a professional fee of P50,000.00 for his services exclusive to the conduct of the launching only on June 25, 2011 to which the Core Group approved.
